Sacramento Kings

The Sacramento Kings have two very high selections in the 2017 NBA Draft, fifth and tenth overall. While they could easily rebuild with these two picks, we may see the team go all in on a playmaker like Lonzo Ball. Yesterday, we dedicated an entire article to how this could happen, and quite frankly, it seems like a realistic possibility.

Sure, the team could easily settle with the fifth and tenth overall selections and vastly improve their team with new bloods. At fifth overall, the Kings will likely have a choice between De’Aaron Fox, Dennis Smith, and Malik Monk to all be their point guard of the future. At tenth overall, the team could bring in a big man like Jarrett Allen or Zach Collins.

As great as both of those picks would be, neither of them brings in a superstar factor that can make the Kings as a unit better. There is one point guard in this draft, Lonzo Ball, who has the ability to do so. This may intrigue the Kings to do business with the Boston Celtics.

The Kings could offer the Celtics a package that includes the fifth and tenth overall picks, effectively swapping spots to give the Kings a superstar while giving the Celtics more options to add depth. The Celtics do need big man depth, and using a tenth overall selection on a power forward or center is much wiser than using the first overall selection.

Then, the Kings are primed to exactly what they want, a superstar in the making. Insert Ball in the backcourt alongside a very promising Buddy Hield, and the Kings could have something special.
