3. Orlando Magic

Another young, developing team, D’Angelo Russell would see the same role in Orlando that he would on the Los Angeles Lakers. Russell would likely serve as the face of the franchise to build around, and with Aaron Gordon and Nikola Vucevic, the Magic could create their own young big three. While the Magic do have some talent already in the backcourt, Russell would be a significant upgrade.

The Magic do have shooting guard Jodie Meeks heading into free agency this season, but outside of that, the backcourt for the Magic would practically be the same. However, the team does have a nice trade chip in Elfrid Payton to give to the Lakers in exchange for Russell. With DraftExpress predicting the Magic to select Malik Monk, this could give the Magic the best young backcourt in just a few seasons.

A package including Elfrid Payton and a future first round draft pick would be huge for the Los Angeles Lakers. If the team is looking to bring in Lonzo Ball, they need a point guard that can come off the bench. Russell is not that player, however, Payton could be well suited for that role.

Overall, a starting five consisting of Russell, Monk, Gordon, and Vucevic would be far better than what the Magic are accustomed to. Add in a potential power forward selection like Jordan Bell with the 25th overall selection, and the Magic would be a dangerous young team.
