Lakers rumors: Five players LA should grab to build around Brandon Ingram
By Keith Rivas
James Johnson
A free agent this summer, James Johnson most recently played with the Miami Heat. The 30-year old veteran would play the other forward spot to help out Ingram.
Given that Ingram’s biggest thing to work on right now is getting bigger physically, Johnson would help with his presence as a power forward.
Last season was arguably Johnson’s best of his career. Scoring wise, he averaged 12.8 points per game while still contributing on the glass.
Compliments to Ingram are what Los Angeles will need at both the power forward and reserve small forward positions. Magic Johnson seems to know what he’s doing with the team, and once his mind is made, all it takes is execution.
James Johnson is a more immediate asset. They would need to go after him as soon as possible before another team signs him for a few seasons.
As Ingram’s game grows, the team will need a power forward they can rely on, at least for a little bit. Johnson would, should, and could be that guy.
