Taj Gibson

Splitting time between Chicago and Oklahoma City last season, Taj Gibson is another free agent forward that the Clippers should look into. He’s several years younger than Randolph, and can be more effective on the boards.

Averaging about ten points per game, Gibson would help contribute to scoring more than most available forwards, while Griffin’s shoes will be overall hard to fill.

The former first round draft pick played his college ball at USC. Going to the Clippers would be a homecoming in that sense, although he’s from Brooklyn. New York and Los Angeles operate with the same amount of tense expectations, so it’s a potential environment that Gibson could thrive in.

Whether or not the Clippers will get a lot out of him in the playoffs is their biggest question mark when looking him over. Thinking that Chris Paul, or whoever their next point guard ends up being, is going to need weapons he can count on, the better question is why they shouldn’t give him a role on the bench.

Let him back up a better forward so that depth doesn’t become an issue.

Because, knowing their luck, that’s how another disappointing season really starts to unravel.
