NBA Free Agency 2017: 15 free agent targets for the Clippers

James Johnson
If you want to talk about valuable options at the forward spot, James Johnson better be in the conversation. Formerly drafted by the Bulls, the 30-year old is playing the best basketball of his career.
He’s coming off of his first season in which he averaged double digits in points. Not only that, but he is also looking at five rebounds, four assists, and a block and a steal every night.
That’s not eye-popping in any one category, but shows that he clearly has the ability and athleticism still to do a little bit of everything.
In terms of filling a position, Johnson would be a great addition whether he’s a starter or the bench guy. Playing back up might be what’s best for him so he can come in after the tempo has been established and then change it completely.
Where Johnson is mostly a game changer is the energy he can play with when he’s on a role. Most players his age don’t have that x-factor in them, but it’s something Los Angeles shouldn’t overlook.
He’d be a worthy replacement to Blake Griffin and could be their quickest ticket to finding a whole new star.
