Patty Mills

If Los Angeles loses Chris Paul to San Antonio, the irony is that a recovery option for them is Spurs point guard Patty Mills.

Mills had to find ways to step up for his team in the playoffs, especially after losing Tony Parker to injury. While he’s no Chris Paul, he’s definitely an emergency option on the table.

Another difference they’ll also have to deal with if they sign Patty Mills is coming to the realization that he won’t be as consistent of scorer as Paul. Also, once Chris Paul goes — assuming he does, of course — there’s a chance that he’ll be the first domino to fall.

While the decisions from Griffin, Redick, and others that were part of the Clippers this previous season might come later, Paul’s official choice will have an impact on that.

And that just goes to show you how vital the point guard position really is to holding Lob City together. If all falls apart, though, we’ll see what the Clippers’ true colors are. DeAndre Jordan will still be under contract, so he could demand a trade if things get ugly.

But overall, Mills would not be a bad pick up when you consider the kind of money they have ready to throw at Chris Paul.

Mills is looking to cash in, while Paul wants a better shot at a title.
