NBA Free Agency 2017: 15 free agent targets for the Clippers

Tony Allen
One defensive play maker that might actually be an overall upgrade for them is Tony Allen. Most recently playing for Memphis, Allen has found a way to define and redefine what it means to be a gritty player.
If Los Angeles can get a guy in there that can not only shoot and score well but also be one of the more physical defenders in the league, that’s a definite plus.
Outside of a strong defensive presence, Allen isn’t much of anything super special. His averages of nine points, five rebounds, and one assist don’t exactly make anyone jump, but when he’s motivated, good luck getting by him on the other end of the floor.
Allen would be a welcome veteran presence that could also aid in grooming their younger talent. Players like Brice Johnson and Diamond Stone will need someone they can look up to that’s willing to work with them.
He’s had that kind of influence during his time with the Grizzlies, and he’d no question be that same kind of player elsewhere.
This could be a move the Clippers could look into regardless of whether they retain anybody or not.
