NBA Free Agency 2017: 15 free agent targets for the Clippers
By Keith Rivas
Ben McLemore
After a mostly unimpressive time with Sacramento, the Clippers would have to justify signing Ben McLemore. It’s not entirely impossible, but it happening would be a telling sign of their true confidence on the market.
Hovering around an eight points per game on average after a couple years in the league and being taken seventh overall in your respective draft class isn’t a great place to be. Not only that, but the dysfunction in Sacramento is no secret.
Perhaps it’s already made a lasting impact on how McLemore will move forward throughout the rest of his career. The only time that McLemore really broke from the scoring slump was his sophomore season.
During that campaign, he saw his season average in points go up in the neighborhood of 12 per game. However, that’s not nearly enough to give him a solid case for anything in free agency.
If signed, expect this to be a desperate move by Los Angeles. Nothing more, nothing less.
