Lonzo Ball

Lonzo Ball heading to the Los Angeles Lakers is seeming more and more unlikely as time goes on. Reports are saying that the Lakers are not yet sold on drafting Lonzo Ball, as they are not sure if he has the star power necessary out of a second overall selection.

Heck, some reports are even saying the Lakers are concerned about his father despite Magic Johnson going on the record and saying he does not see him as a problem. Regardless of if the Lakers are getting cold feet or not, they need to snag up Lonzo Ball when they have the opportunity.

The fact of the matter is that if the Lakers have plans of building a super team they are going to need to bring in superstars that score. Young guys like D’Angelo Russell, Brandon Ingram, and Julius Randle are already battling to get their own scoring metrics up, so they are going to need a playmaker.

There is no other playmaker like Lonzo Ball in the NBA Draft, even garnering comparisons to the great Jason Kidd. Sure he has an ugly jump shot, sure his father is absurd, sure he may never light the score books up and score 50 points.

What Lonzo can do is pass the basketball, rebound the basketball, and score the basketball when he needs to. In this new wave of point guard’s and what is expected out of them, this is exactly what the Lakers need to keep up.
