DeMarcus Cousins

I strongly feel that DeMarcus Cousins may somehow end up as a Laker in the very near future. While his on-court demeanor and attitude definitely are an issue, Cousins is a very talented player that would perfectly sum up this Lakers super team. With only one more season under contract with the Pelicans, Cousins may opt to head back to Los Angeles, joining Paul George in the process.

Look at every great Lakers team in the history of the franchise, nearly all of them had dominant big men. West had Chamberlain, Magic had Kareem, Kobe had Shaq and then Gasol and Bynum. While Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum alone aren’t spectacular, they played a pivotal role in rings four and five for Kobe, that cannot be denied.

The Lakers attempted to recapture this magic with Dwight Howard but to no avail. His easy-going attitude often clashed with Kobe’s Mamba mentality, causing disdain and no real success between the two. However, although Cousins does have an attitude of his own, bringing him into this young core with Pau George may be enough to straighten out Boogie.

A front court of Randle and Cousins would be absolutely deadly. Cousins has shown the ability to dominate near the basket and grab a surplus of rebounds and has great range shooting the basketball. In today’s NBA that is all the more valuable, as the Lakers now would have four legit scoring threats for Lonzo Ball to feed to.
