Cody Bellinger

It appears that Bellinger is destined for great things in Los Angeles.

Bellinger has already earned NL Rookie of the Month and Player of the Week honors during his first full month in the major leagues. With 12 home runs, 31 RBI and a .884 on-base-plus-slugging percentage, Bellinger already ranks in the top 20 of the National League in all three categories and is second overall amongst all major league rookies.

The question here is whether Bellinger should be named to the team as a first baseman, his natural position, or an outfielder. He is playing a deft, efficient left field while stalwart Adrian Gonzalez mans first base. His defense is earning rave reviews in the outfield due to his athleticism and deceptive foot speed, so it will be a matter of roster maneuvering to get him on the All-Star team.

Regardless of position, Bellinger definitely deserves a spot on the team – and will likely be the third Dodgers rookie in three years (Corey Seager, 2016; Joc Pederson, 2015) to earn that right.
