The Los Angeles Dodgers are easily one of the most historic teams in all of baseball, arguably only behind the New York Yankees in terms of history. This is what has made it so easy to compile this list of the fifty greatest Dodgers of all-time. There have been so many fantastic players in the team’s long history that show the true greatness of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Using FanGraph‘s Wins Above Replacement, WAR, metric can be tough. WAR takes into consideration every aspect of a player’s game from hitting to base running to fielding. It then calculates how many wins that player is worth measured up against an AAA replacement. This statistic has taken over the baseball world as the statistic to measure a player’s worth.
Using the WAR metric lead to some interesting players to be included in numbers 50-46, which you can read here. There was some familiar faces, some old ones, and a very recent player that is still a favorite to current Dodger fans. This list will be no different, you will see familiar faces, people you have never heard of, and some current Hall of Fame caliber players.
With so many great Dodgers in the history of the sports, some players may be left off this list. If you don’t see your personal favorite here they may rank higher or may have missed the mark.
