2019-20 Season:

During the 2019 offseason the Lakers were able to bring in some key role players, but with Lebron’s contract and D’Angelo Russell getting a new contract it wasn’t anyone incredible.

The primary pick up in the offseason was center Jahlil Okafor, who then was slotted in at the starting center position. Besides Okafor, the starting five was exactly the same as the year prior, with Lonzo Ball and D’Angelo Russell both improving their overalls to 85 and 86, respectively. Overall, while the team is still very young, it is a lot more promising than the year prior.

However, despite the promise, the Los Angeles Lakers still managed to struggle with Lebron James at the helm. James once again missed out on making an All-NBA team, and the Lakers failed to make the playoffs with a 37-45 record. In fact, despite their talent arguably getting better, their performance got worse.

James once again struggled, averaging 18.5 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game. Those numbers are great for most players, but fans of the Los Angeles Lakers understandably would expect much more out of Lebron James.

Ball and Russell both averaged over 16 points, but that still was not enough for a winning record. Los Angeles allowed the third most points per game, so it obvious their defense is a problem.
