Weeks 1-4

Week one: Chargers at Broncos

To start the regular season off, the Chargers are heading to the Mile High City to square off with division foes, the Denver Broncos. The Broncos are coming off of a 9-7 season, which was not good enough for a playoff berth. This was the first time the team missed out on the playoffs since 2010.

The quarterback problem is certainly a real problem in Denver. Trevor Siemian showed sparks of greatness but is easy for opposing defenses to figure out. It will be a tightly played game, however, the Broncos will be able to edge the Chargers out at home. 27-24 Broncos. (0-1)

Week two: Dolphins at Chargers

The Chargers get to play their first regular season game in Los Angeles during week two against the Miami Dolphins. Last season the Chargers and Dolphins squared off, with Miami edging out San Diego. This loss was the direct result of multiple interceptions thrown by Rivers.

Hopefully, in week two star receiver Keenen Allen is still healthy, if so, this could be an easy win for the Chargers. Los Angeles’ mix of a deep passing offense and a good running game may be too much for the Dolphins, especially in the Chargers first home game. 31-21 Chargers. (1-1)

Week three: Chiefs at Chargers

This one may be a bit bolder than the others, but the Chargers may be able to snag a victory from the Chiefs in Los Angeles. The Chargers have always matched up well against the Chiefs, constantly giving them good contests.

Last season the Chargers were dominating the Chiefs in week one, that is until Keenan Allen went down with a season-ending injury. That injury allowed the Chiefs to hone in on defense, causing a static Chargers offense. With a deeper passing game, this won’t be the case. 35-30 Chargers. (2-1)

Week four: Eagles at Chargers

In their third consecutive home game, the Chargers square off against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles did add depth to their receiving core, and with Carson Wentz only getting better, this may be a good challenge for the Chargers. However, Melvin Gordon could have a big day, leading to a Chargers victory. 21-17 Chargers. (3-1)
