Adrian Gonzalez

This one pains me to say, but with Cody Bellinger far exceeding expectations, there is a chance that Adrian Gonzalez could be shipped away. Quite frankly, Gonzalez has the smallest chance of these three players for two reasons. First, Gonzalez has been battling injuries this season. He is known for being healthy and reliable, but that has not been the case in 2017.

Second, Gonzalez is just too much of a locker room presence for the Dodgers to let him go. He is still great with the glove over at first base, and although he is struggling at the plate, his slack is being picked up elsewhere. Gonzalez may start seeing less time on the field because of Bellinger once he is healthy, but that does not take away from his locker room presence.

However, there still is a chance something of this nature could occur. While I highly doubt it, Gonzalez is an easy target for contending teams that need a first baseman or designated hitter. Especially for a young team like the Minnesota Twins, Gonzalez would be a huge presence. With Joe Mauer at first and Gonzalez in the DH, the Twins would now have two experienced leaders.

This is huge for a team that is surprising everyone and is still contending in mid-June. While a piece like Gonzalez certainly does not catapult their chances, it would mean more in the clubhouse than on the field. Think of Michael Young when he was dealt to the Dodgers back in 2013.
