Joc Pederson

I love Joc Pederson, I really do. Before Pederson came to the big leagues he was my favorite minor leaguer, even over the likes of Corey Seager and Julio Urias. From day one, even when he has struggled horribly, I have been a huge fan of Pederson. Yet, when facing the reality, his time in LA may be up.

Pederson has been the unfortunate recipient of injuries this season, and even more unfortunately, could have lost his job because of it. Chris Taylor has thrived this season and has shown the Dodgers front office that he can play center field, something that is putting Pederson’s job in jeopardy.

Coming back from injury Pederson has played well too. Pederson has slugged a home run in each of the Dodgers games against the Reds, showcasing that power that we all know he possesses. However, he just is not as consistent as Taylor, and can still bring something to the table, hence his trade value.

Pederson would likely be the main big league piece if the Dodgers were to trade for a pitching upgrade for the rotation. Pederson and a prospect or two would be a good exchange for both teams. The Dodgers would then get another arm to their rotation to pitch over Hyun-Jin Ryu, and the other team in the deal would get a young, power hitting, outfielder.

Pederson certainly is a great player, but with Taylor thriving it is hard to make his case. Because of his youth, and power-hitting capability, Pederson may be suiting up in a different uniform soon.
