If Dion Waiters does not resign with the Miami Heat then they are going to need depth at shooting guard. While they could move Tyler Johnson over to the two, it would be better pressed for the Heat to bring in another guard to at least solidify their backcourt. Instead of bringing in a rookie guard to come off the bench, the perfect option is Jordan Clarkson.

Clarkson has spent time at both shooting and point guard, giving the Heat much more flexibility off of the bench. With the Los Angeles Lakers most likely drafting a guard with the second overall selection, they would not need Clarkson in their system. Also, along with allowing the Lakers to move up in the draft, they would be able to get rid of Clarkson’s 12 million dollar contract.

If the Lakers move up to 14th they should draft another Jackson, Justin Jackson out of the University of North Carolina. Jackson is fittingly ranked as the 14th best prospect in this draft and would give the Lakers the scoring off of the bench that they had hoped for from Brandon Ingram.

With Nick Young potentially walking away with his player option, the Lakers are going to need a good scorer off of the bench. Jackson would be just that as he averaged 18.4 points per game in his junior season.

Jackson could even see time at shooting guard off of the bench as well. However, the Lakers need a viable option behind Ingram. Instead of allowing Corey Brewer or Luol Deng to eat minutes, they could draft Justin Jackson.
