8. C Kyle Farmer (MLB Pipeline: 30)

Kyle Farmer is a versatile catcher that can also take game reps at first, second, or third base. Farmer is only ranked as the thirtieth best prospect in the Dodgers organization and is behind two other catchers. However, his play this season for AAA Oklahoma City should earn him some credit, as he has been tearing the cover off of the baseball.

Farmer is leading the Oklahoma City Dodgers in batting average, batting .350 over 21 games played. Before his promotion to AAA Farmer was smashing baseballs in AA Tulsa, hitting to a .339 clip. Farmer has slugged five long bombs in his five games with OKC, driving in 20 RBIs – almost one per game.

7. SS. Gavin Lux (MLB Pipeline: 6)

Gavin Lux was the Dodgers first overall selection in the 2016 MLB Draft coming out of Indian Trails High School. When this selection was made, I assumed that Lux was the plan for the future. After Justin Turner’s contract is up Corey Seager will likely make the move to the more natural third base, opening the door for Lux.

While Lux does have an extreme upside that is getting him this high on this list alone, he has not quite produced yet. After batting .296 in rookie ball last season, Lux has seen his average fall to .222, striking out 39 times in 180 at bats.

Lux is still providing great fielding for the Dodgers and is showcasing his speed with ten stolen bases. The upside is definitely there, but the dip in production causes a dip in the rankings.
