The Lakers made a huge splash when they dealt D’Angelo Russell and Timofey Mozgov. Now, according to the latest Lakers rumors, how can they part ways with Luol Deng?

The Los Angeles Lakers have made quite the moves under new management. Los Angeles brought in both Rob Pelinka and Magic Johnson to the fold last season, signaling a new direction for the franchise. This duo has indeed led the Lakers in a new direction, shaking up their current roster and fixing the mistakes of old.

First, the team dealt sixth man Luo Williams to the Houston Rockets in exchange for Corey Brewer and the Rockets first round pick. This was seen as a “full tank” move, as Williams was the Lakers leading scorer at the time. Although the move was initially ridiculed, it got the job done. Los Angeles managed to secure the second overall selection, in which they took Lonzo Ball.

Then, in even bigger news, the Lakers dealt 2015 second overall pick D’Angelo Russell to the Brooklyn Nets. The Lakers received center Brook Lopez and the 27th overall pick in exchange for Russell and Mozgov. Again, this deal has been ridiculed, but it was done with the future in mind.

The Lakers effectively got rid of Mozgov’s contract, only having to pay one year of Lopez’ massive deal. While Russell was a loss, he never seemed to be the superstar the Lakers wanted.

Now, with potential superstars waiting, there is another man the Lakers need to deal; Luol Deng. Using the same framework of the Brooklyn Nets deal, with the latest Lakers rumors in mind, here are three deals the Lakers can pull the trigger on to get rid of Luol Deng’s terrible contract.
