Clippers Rumors: Best new homes for Blake Griffin after CP3 trade
By Jason Reed
4. Toronto Raptors
This one may seem a bit unorthodox, I get that. The Toronto Raptors have seemingly had no ties to Los Angeles star, and with Kyle Lowry opting out of his contract, all of their focus seems to be there. However, the Raptors are a team that is sitting on the brink of stardom; if they could bring in Griffin this would make them the favorites to dethrone the Cleveland Cavaliers in the East.
The Raptors have a free agent power forward of their own in Serge Ibaka. While Ibaka is a good power forward and by every means is starting caliber, he is not on the same level as Griffin. Quite frankly, Ibaka is not worth the money that he will likely be asking for, and if the Raptors resign him, it would be a massive mistake.
Instead, the Raptors should pursue a star in this free agent class, with the perfect star being Blake Griffin. Lowry has made his intents on winning a ring evident, and if Toronto can’t convince him that they are capable, he very well may walk. Signing Griffin could be enough to bring Lowry back with his bird rights, forming a huge scoring big three between Lowry, Griffin, and Demar DeRozan.
However, the fact that there are no current ties between the two parties may be a sign that this partnership may never come to fruition. Although it seems to be a perfect fit, the NBA is never that easy.
Yet, due to the fact that this is a naturally fantastic fit for both parties, it deserves considerations on this list.
