The latest Dodgers rumors address the dependency on Cody Bellinger.

In order to compete in the postseason, the Dodgers will need all the help from Cody Bellinger they can get. The rookie has stepped on the diamond and hasn’t looked back since his late April debut.

Ensuring that the opportunity didn’t pass him up, Bellinger has been red-hot at the plate. He is the team leader in home runs (24) and RBI (56). Alongside him, Corey Seager leads the other offensive categories for the team.

Seager was part of the playoff push last season, so this season belongs to Bellinger for a few reasons. Without his energy, the team will be dependent on guys like Yasiel Puig for a spark.

While that’s been okay from time to time, Puig’s latest streak of actions has given room for ample concern about how he handles the game. Los Angeles can use the game changing energy that Bellinger plays with to push past anyone.

Before they get there, though, Bellinger will need to help them get out of the NL West. Both Colorado and Arizona aren’t messing around this season, and it’s no lock that LA will win the divisional crown just yet.

In a playoff series, Bellinger’s ability to go yard will be more important than ever. The Dodgers, for whatever reason, love to push themselves to the limit when closer to October.

As fans remember, their NLDS win over the Washington Nationals didn’t come without a nail-biting finish. Then, against the Cubs, they had their chances, but couldn’t convert and pull it off.

Their opponents might be different this postseason, but what matters is whether or not they can have consistency. Bellinger has shown he can go yard at a good pace, but the playoffs may get to him on a mental level.

If his mentality perseveres, however, don’t be shocked to see the Dodgers trust even more in their potential new hero. Without him, there’s no chance they win the World Series this season and end the title drought that’s gone on for far too long.
