The Los Angeles Dodgers have surged into becoming the best team in the NL, and arguably the best team in all of baseball. Los Angeles put together a historic month of June in which they held a 21-7 record. The team slugged a record setting 53 home runs in the month, flexing their muscles to go alongside their dominant pitching staff.
The Dodgers pitching staff leads in practically every important pitching metric. Starting pitching has been great for the Dodgers, as the rotation holds a 3.40 ERA, the best mark in baseball.
The bullpen has not been a chip off the block either. Dave Roberts masterfully conducted the bullpen last season, with that trend continuing to 2017. This is evident from the 2.95 ERA the Dodgers relievers hold, the third lowest in all of baseball.
Clayton Kershaw has been his usual self, being the best pitcher on the planet and all. Alex Wood has risen and become one of the best pitchers in the NL, putting together a Cy Young performance. Brandon McCarthy has excelled, and Kenta Maeda and Hyun-Jin Ryu have both shown great glimpses.
This pitching staff seems to be just fine. However, the team is still reportedly searching for more starting pitching. With teams typically only running four, or even three, man rotations in the playoffs it is extremely important to add that one last great arm.
