Dodgers Rumors: What Los Angeles can receive from trading Yasiel Puig
By Jason Reed
In the first deal, which will be a trend throughout this slideshow, we see the Dodgers address their need for more pitching in Jeremy Hellickson and Pat Neshek. The downfall of this deal is that the Dodgers would have a hole in right field. With Puig gone, the team wouldn’t have a viable everyday right fielder.
Sure, Enrique Hernandez, Cody Bellinger, or Chris Taylor can all fill in at right. However, with Andrew Toles out for the season and Franklin Gutierrez battling a myriad of injuries, the Dodgers are thin in the outfield. The only saving grace in this situation would be veteran Andre Ethier, who could come back from injury and again become the everyday right fielder.
However, Ethier has not seen much playing time in the last few years and his performance would be a giant question mark. At this point, it seems that fans even forget that Ethier is a Dodger, which is not a good sign.
However, the pitching that the Dodgers get in return is pretty practical. Neshek has been one of the best bullpen guys in the league for the Phillies. With his funky sidearm delivery, Neshek could be a menace in the Dodgers ‘pen.
As for Hellickson, he has struggled as of late but has shown signs of stardom. If Hellickson is put in Rick Honeycutt’s system he will thrive and would be a perfect fourth option in the postseason for the Dodgers.
