The latest Lakers rumors are about a scenario where they pass on a superstar.

These Lakers rumors wouldn’t come true in your wildest dreams, right? A star already made who wants to come home and play for your young, talented team. You have a star point guard from the latest draft, and a promising core to build around still.

So why would you pass on Paul George?

The former 2k cover athlete and Indiana Pacer was recently traded to Oklahoma City in a petty move to keep him out of Los Angeles. It seems as though the Pacers front office just didn’t want to give him what he wanted, so they gave him to the Thunder.

As part of the move, OKC actually saved money by acquiring George. They’ll pay a couple million dollars less for him than they would have if they kept Victor Oladipo around.

But forget all of that, the Lakers are bent on making it happen next summer. They’ve passed on quality talent in this free agency period to ensure they’ve got some dough to throw around in a year.

LeBron James, Russell Westbrook, and Paul George will all have the opportunity to go somewhere else if they so choose. They’re supposed to be a lock for the latter, but here’s three reasons why the Lakers could take a hard pass on Paul George.
