Closing Thoughts

If all goes to hell in a hand basket, the Lakers will just have to trust their young core they’ve been building. So long as Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka trust their drafting skills, the team will be just fine.

Brandon Ingram and Lonzo Ball have to stay on track. If either one of them goes of the rails, it’ll be a bad omen for Los Angeles moving forward. Ingram is in need of getting physically bigger, while Ball will have to show he can be consistent.

Should the Lakers not go after Paul George, that doesn’t mean they won’t be major players in free agency. They could easily still pitch to Westbrook, James, or someone else that can make an immediate impact.

The Lakers can be a threat as soon as this season. If that does happen, they may not even need Paul George. He’d be a starting forward with the kind of talent they can get from Ingram or another young star.

He won’t mind not signing with the Lakers as much as some might think. As a free agent, he’ll be thinking about getting paid as much as location. While location does matter, especially it seems for him, money talks more than anything.
