Chris Paul

This one may seem a bit optimistic, and a bit far-fetched, but when you think about the situations involved it actually makes some sense. Chris Paul was supposed to be a Laker before until the NBA blocked the trade that would have paired Paul alongside Kobe Bryant. Seven years later in the 2018 offseason we may finally see Paul head to the Lakers.

Paul was recently traded to the Houston Rockets in a sign-and-trade deal with the Los Angeles Clippers. The Clippers had so much potential with Paul, Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan yet the team never made it out of the second round of the postseason. After multiple disappointments, the Clippers and Paul parted ways to make more cap space to rebuild around Griffin.

Paul now finds himself alongside James Harden in Houston, giving the Rockets the best backcourt in basketball alongside Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson in Golden State. However, Paul is under contract for only one more season and the Rockets just extended Harden for four more years, worth a record-setting $170 million.

With big contracts in Ryan Anderson and Ben Gordon, it is going to be extremely hard for the Rockets to bring Paul back in after this season. Plus, Paul is in a state in his career where all he wants is that ring. If this Houston experiment does not work, Paul will likely be out.

Heading to LA may cause some complications with Lonzo Ball, but even having Ball as a sixth man would make this team infinitely better. Although unlikely, the prospects of winning a ring in LA may be too hard for Paul to pass up.
