DeMarcus Cousins

Another star that has had previous ties with the Lakers, Los Angeles may look to give George a dominant force down low in DeMarcus Cousins. Although he can be a headache on the court with his antics and his anger, Cousins has the perfect mold to succeed in today’s NBA. With a great scorer in George and a distributor in Ball, Cousins could be the missing piece.

Before being dealt to the New Orleans Pelicans, Cousins reportedly had ties to Los Angeles, with the Lakers almost acquiring him in a trade. Although they struck out in the deal, it may be for the best as Cousins only has one year left under contract. The Davis-Cousins tandem in New Orleans isn’t performing like we all expected, potentially signaling Cousins’ departure.

Cousins would then be freed up to join the Los Angeles Lakers. Granted, like any person on this list, the Lakers are going to need to somehow get rid of Luol Deng, Jordan Clarkson, or both. However, knowing that the team is going to bring in a dominant center, they could try to package Ivica Zubac would either of those talents to wipe the contract free.

Then, the Lakers would have Ball, George, Randle, and Cousins in the starting lineup. The Lakers could even move George back to the shooting guard position, leave Brandon Ingram as the starting small forward, and have one of the best starting fives in all of basketball. Especially if Ball, Randle and Ingram can reach their potential quick, this would be a scary good team.
