4. Justin Turner winning the Final Vote – July 6

While this moment didn’t necessarily come in a game, Justin Turner winning the Final Vote by a decisive manner has to be something that the Los Angeles Dodgers are proud of. After being snubbed from yet another All-Star team, Dodger fans showed their massive support and voted Turner in over the likes of Kris Bryant, Anthony Rendon, Justin Bour and Mark Reynolds.

A large part of this had to do with the incredible fan base known as Pantone 294. Pantone 294 travels with the Dodgers and are the group you always see on TV with the huge LA flag. They volunteered to vote for Justin Turner for 24 consecutive hours, taking shifts at what I imagine was some conference room in Dodger Stadium.

Not only did Turner win, he broke the Final Vote record by receiving 20.8 million votes to be in the All-Star game. Dodger fans rallied behind Turner, which was a great sign after the comments Kenley Jansen made about Dodger fans. Kenley, I love you man I really do, but it is hard to get immense support when the majority of Dodger fans can’t even watch them on TV.

All in all, Turner undoubtedly deserved these honors. This isn’t a case where a player got voted in on popularity instead of talent. Turner has torn the cover off of the ball in the first half, slugging ten home runs, 37 RBIs and hitting for a .377 average.

Turner is 50 at-bats away from being qualified for the Dodgers. If he can average four to five at-bats per game he will officially be in the running for the batting title in about a month.
