Dodger fans certainly love their prospects and never want to part ways. However, it may be time to trade some according to the latest Dodgers rumors.

There are some fans that really, really hate the idea of trading anyone from the Dodgers farm system. Every time I mention something of this nature the response typically is “Well if traded our prospects before we wouldn’t have Corey Seager, Cody Bellinger or Julius Urias.” That is true, yes, but the state of our farm is much different now than it was before.

Those prospects that are mentioned are elite level prospects. Heck, Seager was ranked as the number one prospect in baseball heading into his rookie year with Urias ranked fourth. Bellinger was in the top ten before his debut as well. The current state of the Dodgers farm system does not have these kinds of superstars.

Plus, the dynamic of the team was totally different when they were coming through the ranks. Then, the Dodgers were bringing in veterans such as Hanley Ramirez, Jimmy Rollins and it pains me to say, Adrian Gonzalez to hold down the fort until these young guys came up. Now, these young guys are up, and it is causing a logjam of talent that can’t possibly fit any prospects.

Plus, the Dodgers don’t really have any free agent voids to worry about in the future. Andre Ethier, Franklin Gutierrez, Chase Utley, Sergio Romo and Brandon Morrow headline the free agent pool for the Dodgers. They are set for some time and need to bring in pieces to win it all while they can.

Granted, there are exceptions, there are guys the Dodgers should keep. However, it may surprise you which prospects have a chance of being dealt this year.
