Lakers Rumors: Five players to trade Julius Randle for at the deadline
By Jason Reed
Instead of going after a big contract to help neutralize the expensive and lengthy contract of Luol Deng, the Lakers could take another route and go with a solid guard for the future. If the Lakers want to bring in some superstars they are going to have to establish some solid role players. Eric Gordon fits that billing perfectly and would be a great fit for the Los Angeles Lakers.
To get this deal done the Lakers would trade Randle along with Jordan Clarkson to match the salary of Gordon. Still, the Rockets would be $1 million over the cap, but they could either cut someone or trade a bench player such as Tim Quarterman to match the salaries.
I don’t think there can be a deal that would be better suited for both sides than this deal. Both teams come out of this deal with something they need, making each other better in the process. The Rockets get a formidable, young, power forward in Randle to set up a perfect tandem with the sharpshooting Ryan Anderson.
They also get Jordan Clarkson, who can split time at point and shooting guard. Houston does not need a great guy off the bench to play limited minutes, instead, they can utilize his talents by adding in an area of need.
Now the Lakers get Gordon, who has shown us that when he is starting he can be a dynamic threat. Gordon has averaged as much as 22.3 points per game in his career, and at only 28 years old, he won’t be slowing down in the near future.
