As if the Dodgers weren’t already on a roll, new call up Kyle Farmer made sure to leave his mark.

There’s no pressure in having your first major league at bat come in extra innings against a bitter rival and a World Series worthy regular season type of momentum on your shoulders.

Just kidding — of course there is.

Kyle Farmer didn’t seem to care though, as his full count base knock sent the Dodgers into a frenzy, scoring both Corey Seager and Justin Turner to beat out the San Francisco Giants. Questions remain about whether this team can actually go all the way and win themselves a pennant.

Obviously, pitching factors into their equation probably more than anyone because of Clayton Kershaw. With Kershaw out several weeks due to lower back issues, the Dodgers needed something else.

Kyle Farmer could be that spark, adding to the rookie heroics of Cody Bellinger and last season’s campaign by Corey Seager. Los Angeles seems to have the best rookies in baseball, and they’ve proven it under pressure time after time.

Moving forward, Farmer could be the boost in the lineup they need at the plate. Depending on the night, Los Angeles may not see much from their usual hitters. Farmer gives them depth options as well, so long as he matches his batting with excellent fielding.

Even though it’s just one game out of a long season, the Dodgers were looking for something to get them through the next month or so. The best thing about all of this was that Farmer has been humble about his opportunity to play in the major leagues.

It’s not a chance that a lot of minor league players get, even if they’re good at what they do. It’ll be interesting to see how Farmer tries to match his debut, but regardless the Dodgers should be happy.

Farmer knows that he could weave his way into the lineup if he plays well enough, just like Bellinger did. When the slugger and fellow incredible rookie was called up earlier this year, it was uncertain how long his time at the top would last.

After he continued to earn it, the Dodgers had no choice but to keep him in the lineup. Farmer hopes the same can be said about him in the near future, and you can’t blame him after an incredible walk-off win.
