The Los Angeles Dodgers accomplished yet another blockbuster deal during the 2017 MLB Trade Deadline. In spirit of the deal, let’s take a look at the five best trades by Andrew Friedman’s front office.
Finally, the Los Angeles Dodgers went out and got a star. For the last several seasons the Dodgers’ moves consisted of bringing in role players and minor league talent, with guys like Rich Hill being the biggest magnitude of star acquired. Don’t get me wrong, those moves created the best team in baseball that the Dodgers are today.
However, with this year being the best chance of bringing home the first World Series title in 29 years, it was very pleasant to see the team put their necks out and get a star. In case you haven’t heard, the Dodgers went out and acquired right-handed pitcher Yu Darvish.
In spirit of this blockbuster deal, we will take a look at the five best trades performed by Andrew Friedman’s office. Friedman became the President of Baseball Operations for the Dodgers in October of 2014; thus ending a ten-year partnership with the Rays.
Friedman and General Manager Farhan Zaidi are certainly different animals than the former GM Ned Colletti. Zaidi and Friedman essentially stripped the Dodgers of several of the massive contracts they owed, opting to bring in key players over superstars.
