The Los Angeles Lakers have made a lot of recent moves, and they don’t seem to be done yet. With Jordan Clarkson involved in the latest Lakers rumors, one may ask who the Lakers are targeting in exchange for his talents.
TheLos Angeles Lakersare in a tricky situation regarding their franchise. Loaded up with young talent, the future seems bright for the Lakers. However, several superstars have been linked to recent Lakers rumors, which would cause a domino effect of getting rid of at leastoneyoung talent.
Now, for fans, this is where it becomes difficult. Los Angeles needs to find a happy medium that both puts them in a better situation to win along with making the fans happy. Sports fans can be irrational, asking for the Lakers not to lose a single young talent and merely sign all of these superstars and make them take pay cuts.
The NBA is not that easy, although many wish it was. If the Lakers want to go out and get a Paul George they are going to have tobring in talentalongside him. Whether that talent is directly acquired from Clarkson or they use Clarkson as a pawn, that move needs to be made.
The perfect example of using Clarkson as a pawn would be a deal similar to the D’Angelo Russelltradeback in June. The Lakers used Russell to free cap space. With Clarkson already having one of the Lakers’ largest contracts, they could trade him for an expiring deal.
