Stacking young talent

Lakers Receive: SG Klay Thompson, SF Giannis Antetokounmpo, C Karl Anthony-Towns
Warriors Receive: PF Gorgui Dieng, SG Corey Brewer
Bucks Receive: SF Luol Deng, PF Julius Randle
Timberwolves Receive: Brook Lopez

Instead of bringing in two stars who use to share a court in Los Angeles, this trade sees the Lakers continue their young theme and bring in three of the biggest superstars in the NBA. All three of these guys have an MVP ceiling behind them, and together, may be able to dethrone the Warriors. Granted, Klay Thompson was on the Warriors, so getting him to turn to the light will only help the rest of the NBA.

Thompson, a Los Angeles native, is the oldest acquisition in this deal at 27 years old. Karl-Anthony Towns is 21 years old while Giannis Antetokounmpo stands in at 22 years old. This combination of guys would be the best young core the NBA has ever seen, and quite frankly, their play styles would fit perfectly together.

This was evident in the NBA 2K17 simulation. The Lakers went a solid 66-16 with this team, good enough for the best record in the Western Conference and the best record in all of the NBA. The playoffs were easy work for the Lakers, as they made it to the Western Conference undefeated.

There, they squared off against the Houston Rockets, who defeated the third seeded Golden State Warriors the round prior. The Lakers handled them in six games before defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers soundly in the finals in five. However, this team still wasn’t the best team we could put together.
