1977 Dodgers – 98-64, National League Champions

On April 13th the Dodgers were one game out of first place in the NL West, it took them two games to get a lead they would never relinquish.  The Dodgers would end up winning the division by 10 games over the defending World Champion Cincinnati Reds.

The Dodgers offense slugged their way to the top hitting a league leading 191 home runs lead by the quartet of Steve, Garvey, Ron Cey, Reggie Smith and Dusty Baker becoming the first team to have four players hit 30 home runs.

The pitching staff lead the league in ERA and boasted a 20 game winner in Tommy John who would finish second in the Cy Young Award race.  The Dodgers would win the National League Pennant beating the Philadelphia Phillies in the NLCS, eventually losing the World Series to the New York Yankees.
