1962 Dodgers – 102-63

One of two LA Dodgers teams to win 100 games frankly there is only one team that could surpass the 1962 Dodgers.  In 1962 there was no divisional play so only one team could represent the NL in the World Series.  Unfortunately, due to a 3 game playoff to break a season ending tie with the San Francisco Giants, the Dodgers missed out on the Fall Classic that year.

Nonetheless, the Dodgers were a great team leading the league in ERA and strikeouts while also placing in the top 5 of in many hitting categories. The team’s success was due largely to great individual performances.

Maury Wills was the NL MVP setting a record by stealing 104 bases, Don Drysdale was the ace of the pitching staff and won the Cy Young Award leading the league in Wins (25) and strikeouts (232).  Tommy Davis set a record yet to be broken with 153 runs batted in and lead the league in batting average hitting .346.  Despite this, the Dodgers had to wait a year to get to the World Series.
