Closing Thoughts

There’s always a lot to take in when making these decisions, and team president Magic Johnson knows that better than anybody. Rob Pelinka can be a great weapon in terms of landing stars they might not have had a shot with previously as well.

However,

Their dream for a superstar or two to just waltz onto the team because it’s the Lakers is foolish. We have to realize that this young team has to prove themselves this next season in order for any of that to actually come true or have a shot at full fruition.

Also, their moves for cap space may come back to haunt them. Moves like cutting David Nwaba and possibly shipping Jordan Clarkson are all things that they have the liberty to do. But unlike the D’Angelo Russell trade, there isn’t a sure way to know a good return could be.

Thankfully for Los Angeles, the Russell trade ended up getting them talented youngsters in Kyle Kuzma and Thomas Bryant to play alongside sensational rookie Lonzo Ball.

They still have a lot to prove before free agency causes a frenzy, so let’s remember to take this whole thing one step at a time. The last thing that the Lakers really need is to have some master plan fall apart at the last minute or in their face.
