The latest Lakers news is about how Brandon Ingram has changed for the better.

Physique was the biggest question for Brandon Ingram since the Lakers drafted him in the summer of 2016. While incredibly skilled, his stature that was a plus for him at Duke wouldn’t be as beneficial in the NBA without proper adjustment.

This summer it seems that the young forward has done just that. As the Lakers look to make everyone look like fools who doubted them, the push for the post-season might not have been this strong since their last NBA Finals run.

Alongside point guard Lonzo Ball, the potential for Ingram to be a star was something we got a glimpse of in Ball’s first assist of his career. Ingram caught a beautiful lob and finished strong at the rim.

According to a report from SB Nation, working his lower body and core out more has been the key. Ingram shared that he knows what he’s up against and that the time to start building his body was now.

Per the report:

"“I have a way stronger base than I did this time last year. Now I’m able to better take hits on the court and get to my spots,” Ingram said. “I know I have to get stronger, so I’m working to gain strength so I can both take bumps on the court and of course deliver them.”"

This comes as great news if Los Angeles can get strong seasons from a few more players. Guys like Julius Randle and Brook Lopez will just have to do enough for the team to win. Ingram and Ball will likely carry the torch in terms of scoring and possibly in rebounds, so it’s become more about do your part than do it yourself.

If the Brandon Ingram that we see is and remains anything like what he showed us in Summer League, it is going to be a fun season for the Lakers.
