To celebrate “Players Weekend” from August 25 to 27 the Dodgers have revealed their specialized jerseys for their series against the Milwaukee Brewers.

In conjunction with Major League Baseball (MLB) and the Major League Baseball Player’s Association (MLBPA), players are able to get custom jerseys to be worn with their nicknames on the back instead of proper names. Every team will also wear a colorful array of alternate jerseys, with the Dodgers going for a dark blue base, lighter sleeves, and a baby blue cap.

Players will be allowed to write the name or names of people who have inspired their career as baseball players on their jerseys as well. Players will also be allowed to wear t-shirts that shine a spotlight on charities or personal causes during pre and post game activities.

MLBPA executive and ex-major leaguer Tony Clark stated the intention for the event, stating:

"“This will be an exciting and unique opportunity for the players to literally wear their passions on their sleeves, and equipment, too, as they embrace this chance to let their true identities shine.”"

The event will definitely draw eyes, major league baseball tends to be one of the more conservative pro leagues when it comes to allowing players to showcase themselves on the field. This is a league that has so many unwritten rules it’s hard to remember them all, and any celebrating on the field could lead to a brawl.

More from Los Angeles Dodgers

With a record-setting regular season brewing for the Dodgers, you know this fun-loving bunch will look good in the colorful pullovers, matching their colorful personalities.

Some of the Dodgers players nicknames go from the mundane, “Sam” (Austin Barnes), spot on “Wild Horse” (Yasiel Puig), to nothing “Seager” (Big Surprise Corey Seager).  Though Corey Seager may not want to participate humorously his brother Kyle Seager playing for the Seattle Mariners chose “Corey’s Brother,” for his nickname.

Even the low-key veteran Chase Utley got in on the fun, choosing to embrace his age and looks taking on the fan inspired nickname “Silver Fox.”  No doubt Utley’s jersey will be a best seller for fans in his age group like the author of this article.

"The jerseys will be auctioned off at MLB.com/auctions with 100 percent of the proceeds going to MLB-MLBPA Youth Development Foundation, a joint effort established in July 2015 by MLB and the MLBPA.  For us fans “Players Weekend” apparel can be bought online through the MLB store."

Next: Austin Barnes is the Dodgers quiet assassin

With an emphasis to help youth baseball and showcasing players personality hopefully, this becomes a yearly tradition.
