Lakers Rumors: Superstar targets that could be Plan B if not Paul George
By Jason Reed
If we do see Paul George walk away after one year with the Thunder to join the powerhouse that is the Warriors, last season’s MVP very well could walk away from Oklahoma City. This would mark the second fellow star that leaves Westbrook to join the Warriors, potentially causing Westbrook to snap and attempt to form a super team of his own in California.
Reports emerged in February that Westbrook could partner with Anthony Davis in Los Angeles down the line. Westbrook and Davis’ agents are both part of Wasserman Media Group, with Davis’ agent floating the idea of the two joining forces in Los Angeles. That partnership would be the start of a team that could dethrone the Warriors in the West.
However, this partnership may just be a fantasy. Davis would not be able to sign until 2021, meaning the Lakers would have to trade someone for him. Maybe they trade Lonzo Ball, maybe they trade Ingram and run Westbrook at the shooting guard. Regardless, Westbrook is the only imminent target and would actually make a decent shooting guard alongside Lonzo Ball.
Well, he may not play like a shooting guard. Westbrook could play much like James Harden, being listed as a shooting guard but playing more like a point guard. Regardless, the tandem of Westbrook and Ball would be deadly.
Whether Davis joins or not, bringing in Westbrook could be the start of stars coming to LA, fufilling all of the latest Lakers rumors.
