With LeBron James’ departure from Cleveland seemingly inevitable, the Lakers rumors around the best player in the world have flared up.

You may love him, you may hate him, but one thing remains; LeBron James is the best basketball player on planet earth. Sure, Kevin Durant, Steph Curry and Russell Westbrook (to name a few) have taken over the spotlight, no player has the same impact that LeBron James does. Put James on nearly any team in the NBA and they will become contenders.

For the majority of his career, the King has called the city of Cleveland his home. Growing up 40 miles south in Akron, part of James’ legacy is bringing his home its first championship in over 50 years. Even after leaving for Miami and winning two titles there, James’ career has always been tied to his relationship with the city of Cleveland.

However, this relationship may be in its final chapter. The cracks first rose to the surface after it became clear to the public eye that Kyrie Irving was over playing with LeBron James. The first overall pick is done playing in his shadow, wanting to be the man of his own team.

With James owning a player option after this season, many already began to believe that this was the beginning of the end for Cleveland. If this was the route the team is taking, they would essentially have to restart and stock up on new talent.

There still always was the hope that James would stay in Cleveland. It is his home and all and playing the GM role he could build a new team around him. Although, Chris Sheridan reported that the ties are completely cut. LeBron wants out of Cleveland.

Luckily for Laker fans, James has been the constant target of recent Lakers rumors. With the Kings intents on heading to LA reportedly strong, here are three stars the Lakers can bring in alongside LeBron James.
