LaMarcus Aldridge

LaMarcus Aldridge may not be a name that has been talked about in any Lakers rumors, but the forward would give LeBron James the perfect power forward to play alongside. Aldridge will be entering 2018 with a player option. With bridges perhaps already starting to flame in San Antonio, Aldridge’s best chance of joining a contender very well could be in Los Angeles.

LeBron James has thrived when playing alongside power forwards that could stretch the court. Both Chris Bosh and Kevin Love excel at the stretch-four role (although Bosh played more center), both members of LeBron’s title-winning teams. Although Aldridge cannot shoot threes like the duo, he can work the paint as good, if not better, than them both.

Aldridge also brings a bigger menace on the glass. While Bosh and Love certainly hold their own when rebounding the basketball, Aldridge has a far bigger build than Bosh and Love, allowing him to use his physicality to get to the rim.

It would be interesting to see how the James-Aldridge partnership would fair. Despite having the ability to score the basketball himself, James loves to surround himself with guys that thrive at scoring as well. Aldridge certainly does fill that scoring mold but has seen his points per game drop both years in San Antonio.

Aldridge does own a player option heading into next offseason, giving him all the power in the world to pack his bags and head to the Staples Center.
