Los Angeles Rams: The five best Rams for your fantasy football team
By Jason Reed
Sammy Watkins very well could have a career resurgence in his first season with the Los Angeles Rams. The third year receiver battled with injury last season, directly hindering his performance as he only managed to play in eight games. However, the foundation is there for Watkins to be immensely successful and he will be Jared Goff’s number one target.
The blistering fast receiver came into his own in just his second year in the NFL. Watkins followed his promising rookie campaign with a sophomore season that consisted of nine touchdowns and 1047 receiving yards. Not to mention this was only in 13 games played. Should Watkins have played all 16, with the same averages, he would have had 11 touchdowns and 1289 receiving yards.
That showing would have put Watkins in ninth for receiving yards and tied for seventh in touchdowns. While his 2015 performance won’t do anything for his fantasy football performance in 2017, it does show owners that a healthy Sammy Watkins is extremely dangerous.
Not to mention that Watkins will benefit from the increased options that Goff has to throw to. Although it seems contradictory, opposing defenses won’t be able to just focus on Watkins. Los Angeles has a lot of tools to play with, more tools than Buffalo has had.
Quite frankly, I think Watkins is a shoo-in for at least 1000 yards and 10 touchdowns. Watkins is a good option for everyone’s starting lineup and could break out to be a top 15 receiver next season.
