Lakers: Three trade returns for a Clarkson-Randle package
By Jason Reed
Jordan Clarkson and Julius Randle have both been subject to their own, separate Lakers rumors. However, the possibility exists to deal them both, in one package.
There have been so many Lakers rumors that I am beginning to lose count. Whether it be the strong ties to Paul George, the possibility of LeBron James or a curveball such as Russell Westbrook, so many stars have been tied to the Los Angeles Lakers. While you may be getting sick of all this speculation (I am), it is a good thing because three years ago these rumors did not exist.
While they are just rumors at the moment, the Lakers will make serious ground on at least one of these targets. Magic Johnson is a very credible name in the front office and the team has already taken steps to ensure one star. Los Angeles is freeing just shy of $50 million in cap next offseason. If that isn’t preparing for a star, I don’t know what is.
However, the team can still go out and pick up a star via trade. If Los Angeles can pull off a deal for an established talent they only increase their odds in bringing in a James or George. While Lonzo Ball and Brandon Ingram are both very enticing trade chips, they are off the table.
That leaves Jordan Clarkson and Julius Randle as the next best option. While they may not get a huge superstar, they very easily can bring in a credible name. Not to mention that Clarkson is overpaid, so the Lakers can knock out two birds with one stone.
The duo has often been separate in trade talks, but today, we are going to look at three possible returns the Lakers can get for a Clarkson-Randle trade package.
