Lakers: 29 Realistic trades to do with every other NBA team
By Jason Reed
The Atlantic Division:
The first deal featured on this long list of Lakers trades is a deal that adds depth to the rivaled Boston Celtics while giving the Lakers a better option to play back up point guard. Boston could use a shooting guard like Josh Hart and Tyler Ennis will only fill the void Marcus Smart leaves behind. Whereas the Lakers get a better guard to back up Lonzo Ball with Smart.
This deal is a straight swap for salary reasons and quite frankly you will see a lot of these on the list. The Lakers have already done business with the Brooklyn Nets and may do business again. Brooklyn needs any young piece it can get and the Lakers get an expiring contract; win-win.
The first superstar deal of these trades, if you still consider Carmelo Anthony a superstar. New York would be getting great pieces in Clarkson and Julius Randle while Luol Deng is included in salary purposes. Even better, Anthony has an early termination clause in his contract after this season, which could make him take a pay cut to bring in any other stars.
A trade between two young, rebuilding teams is a common occurrence in the NBA. Here, the Lakers and 76ers could simply swap assets, helping both organizations out in the process. Los Angeles can slot Kyle Kuzma at starting power forward and be just fine, while the Lakers get the perfect player to split minutes with Dario Saric at power forward.
Now, trading Brook Lopez after acquiring him seemingly makes no sense. However, Jonas Valanciunas is a good center that could be the Lakers starter for the next few years. Toronto, in pursuit of upsetting the Cavs and Celtics in the East, may go all in on a title run and grab a better center in Brook Lopez.
