Although he can get overlooked for other guards in the league, DeMar DeRozan is one of the best statistically in the entire league. The former USC player is easily a top five, if not three, shooting guard in the league, yet he never receives the coverage he deserves. In Los Angeles DeRozan would get this coverage, and the league would realize how good he really is.

Last season DeRozan averaged 27.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game. DeRozan was the fifth leading scorer in the entire league last season and was one of three players in the league to average over 27 points, five rebounds and three assists per game (the other two being Russell Westbrook and James Harden).

These numbers come playing alongside another high profile guard, Kyle Lowry. While Lowry isn’t on the Westbrook level of ball-hogging, his seven assists per game last season was lower than it could have been. Most of those assists went to DeRozan anyway, so imagine how efficient the guard would be playing alongside a pass first guard in Lonzo Ball.

If the Raptors fail to make a deep playoff push, they may look to rebuild from the ground up. This deal gives them their star to build around in Brandon Ingram along with a solid young guard in Jordan Clarkson.

Again, while DeRozan is one of the best in the league statistically, he is often overlooked and would benefit directly from the massive market in Los Angeles.
