The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim stayed in the race for a wild card spot in the playoffs by recording a victory.

This victory by the Angels also completed the series sweep of their opponent the Oakland Athletics. Also, the Angels started out strong as they usually do every game.`They scored three runs in the first three innings.

This is a good way to start out for the team as they do have their struggles. Then as all comebacks go they had their struggles as well. In the fourth inning, they allowed eight runs causing them to trip by 5. Mentioning struggles the Angels haven’t made the post-season in 3 years. Not including last season they have come close and barely missed it.

However this season they seem to be at an okay place. They aren’t where they use to be, yet they aren’t where they want to be.

Scrappy and surviving are two good descriptive words for the Angels in this moment of time. They are in an out of the last wild card spot in the American League. Also, the clubhouse is only ten games back in the win column behind the Houston Astros for first place in the AL West.

In order for the Angels to make the postseason, they must continue to win. They won last night in a stunning come from behind victory. LA scored five runs in the seventh inning to complete the victory.

Albert Pujols tied Jim Thome for 7th on the MLB All-Time Home Run list with 612. Also, Mike Trout also hit a home run, which was the first run scored for LA.

Trout showed he hasn’t lost his groove. He showed how dangerous he is when with his team. Also, his team has been maintaining their play by winning with and without Trout.

Lastly, Infielder Cliff Pennington hit the grand slam to seal the victory in the seventh. As long as the Angels continue to hit more home runs than their opponent they will make the post-season.

While it is just one game, this one game will go a long way in deciding if the team makes the playoffs. On a larger scale, though, this win represents the never say die attitude that the Angels possess.

Next: Angels acquire Justin Upton

Mike Trout and the Halos look to focus on what they can do, which is winning their games. Then hopefully all the rest works out from there. This is how they will make the playoffs.
