The Los Angeles Chargers have one of the deepest receivers corps in the league. Because of this, recent Chargers Rumors suggest the team may trade a receiver.

It is a promising year to be a Chargers fan. Many people expected a playoff push after a great showing from the Bolts in the 2017 NFL Draft. However, in typical Chargers fashion, first round pick Mike Williams began to battle back issues. Williams is on the physically unable to perform list heading into week one, causing a huge dent in the Chargers passing game.

However, even with the huge dent, the Chargers are immensely deep. Los Angeles has Keenan Allen, Travis Benjamin and Tyrell Williams all on the first string. Immediately behind them is Dontrelle Inman, who has become a household name in Southern California after filling in for injured receivers the last few seasons.

Inman may be on his way out, though. Recent reports state that the Chargers may be looking to trade Inman, essentially trading out of an area of depth for an area of need. Using the Rams Sammy Watkins deal, we can look at what the Chargers should expect in return.

This is a smart move for the Chargers if the team can remain healthy. Even if they trade Inman the receiving core is still great. Philip Rivers gets the best out of everyone, so there will be a next man up to fill Inman’s void. Plus, if Williams comes back, Inman likely would see little to no time at all.

The only risk the team runs is if the trio of receivers gets hurt. Allen is injury prone and if he went down, the Chargers would not have Inman as plan B. However, the reward may just outweigh the risk.
