As we prepare for the Rams vs Colts in Week 1, it’s nice to know the Rams won’t have to deal with Andrew Luck.

Considered one of the better individual quarterbacks in the league, Andrew Luck has been ruled out for the first regular season game of the year versus the Rams in Los Angeles. This is great news for the Rams, as it’ll be the first season opener in Jared Goff’s professional career.

It takes some of the jitters out, but the concern for him to play well and not blow it is also still there. Realistically, he’ll be okay at home, but it could be a different story if this game was scheduled to be played in Indianapolis.

According to a report from Yahoo, Luck will miss the game due to recovery from shoulder surgery. Here’s more on the injury and the situation as reported by Yahoo.

"Indianapolis has been fairly secretive about Luck’s recovery from shoulder surgery. But the team has announced Luck is out and Scott Tolzien will start in his place. While it’s not surprising considering Luck was just activated off the physically unable to perform list over the weekend, it’s concerning the Colts didn’t  bother waiting until late in the week to see if Luck made any progress."

The report goes on to talk about the fact that Tolzien is without a win in three career starts, but has a tie under his belt from a game played with Green Bay.

This is going to be a great opportunity for the new receivers for the Rams as well. Guys like Sammy Watkins will get a chance to shine in a game that probably won’t feature much must-watch offense from the opposition.

It’s boiling down to exactly what the Rams want to happen in Week 1, and that’s good news for a change of culture in Los Angeles. Andrew Luck getting to play would’ve been a huge problem for the Rams defense, especially if Aaron Donald wasn’t going to be out there.
