Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Striker at Manchester United
Zlatan Ibrahimovic was in the news this past summer as being rumored to come to Los Angeles after his one-year contract with English side Manchester United was not renewed. The 35-year-old striker’s season ended in April of last year when he suffered serious ligament damage in his right knee, forcing Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho to not offer Zlatan a new deal.
As the summer progressed and Zlatan went on with his rehab, he eventually was able to come to a new agreement with Manchester United to return to the club on a one year deal. This ended any rumors that he would make his way to Los Angeles, but it’s fair to say the door is still open for it to happen.
It’s still unclear whether or not Zlatan Ibrahimovic will make his second debut for Manchester United this season as he continues to nurse his knee injury. Even if he does come back, Manchester United has a crowded front line that includes newly signed Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku and up-and-coming English striker Marcus Rashford.
Ibrahimovic has a variety of business ventures that he could expand if he made the decision to play in the United States, specifically Los Angeles. He has a clothing line that specializes in sporting wear in addition to a cologne that he sells.
Los Angeles could also be a place where Zlatan grows his interest in the filmmaking industry, as he made a movie in 2016 called Becoming Zlatan. Coming to Los Angeles seems like it’s in the best interest for Zlatan not only as a soccer player toward the end of his career but as a business mogul looking to grow his brand.
